The ARCHOR project aims to reconstruct the origins and beginnings of hominins' technology 3 millions years ago and beyond thanks to field data recorded by West Turkana Archaeological Project, North Kenya. The objective is to study cognitive capacities and abilities of the first hominins at the beginning as well as the first steps of the evolution of a new and unique behaviour for primates : the manufacture of stone tools. The experimental approach is one of the main methodological aspects of this project, along with the biomechanical reconstruction of hominins' body and manual gestures during these activities.
